Statement of Service

A Statement of Service is a simple document which confirms that a former employee was employed with the organisation and which provides brief details regarding that employment.

A Statement of Service is a simple document which confirms that a former employee was employed with the organisation and which provides brief details regarding that employment.
 
The Statement should include:
  • the employee’s position
  • period of service and
  • summary of duties.
There is frequently a legal obligation to provide such a Statement of Service to employees who are covered by industrial instruments.
 
Note that the Statement does not provide details regarding the reason for the person ceasing to be employed, and it need not provide any opinion regarding the standard at which the person performed their duties.
