During July, the Office of the Employment Advocate (OEA) approved 4,938 Australian Workplace Agreements.

This brings the number of AWAs that have been approved to 27,409.

The OEA noted some interesting AWAs in its press release, including agreements involving a warehouse operation. These agreements with the individual employees provided pay increases on annualising salaries (backdated to September 1997) and performance appraisal mechanisms that can provide a bonus of 5% of annual salary. This mechanism reviews performance each month against agreed outcomes and feeds into the annual salary review. Employees no longer have access to RDOs or the 25% annual leave loading. Only overtime in excess of 30 hours per annum will be paid at overtime rates.
