The Office of the Employment Advocate has released a CD-Rom 'how-to' guide for employers and employees on making and lodging workplace agreements.

The CD-Rom 'Working Together: Making Better Workplace Agreements' can be ordered on the OEA's website.

The OEA says the guide contains the following information:

For Employers

The how-to guide helps employers through the process of making workplace agreements including getting started, reaching agreement, drafting your agreement, making your agreement, lodging your agreement and using your agreement.

Easy-to-follow information is provided in a step-by-step format about protected award conditions, the Australian Fair Pay and Conditions Standard, required content, optional employment related matters, balancing work and family and additional benefits to employees. The how-to guide covers the legal minimum entitlements which must be included in Australian workplace agreements, employee collective agreements and union collective agreements.

Key issues and example clauses are provided, along with information about employees' rights.

For Employees

Employees can find information about their option to include additional arrangements in their agreements. Key issues are outlined and useful when discussing the terms and conditions of your agreement with your employer.

Example clauses are provided on how to maintain flexibility and balance work and family responsibilities through your agreement.

For Small Business

The guide helps small business workplaces develop the agreement best suited to their specific needs.

The guide explains how workplace agreements can simplify working arrangements and tailor employment conditions to suit the needs of a business and its employees.
