The commencement date for offering the ‘choice of fund’ legislation to new employees has been deferred.

The Assistant Treasurer, Senator Rod Kemp, announced that the start date had been deferred as it has become evident that the Government will be unable to secure the passage of the legislation in the current sitting of Parliament, making the 1 July 1998 start date for offering ‘choice’ to new employees no longer viable.

The Government will move an amendment delaying the start date however a new date for commencement has not been set.
