On Friday 17 December 1999, the Minister for Employment, Workplace Relations and Small Business, the Hon. Peter Reith MP, released an exposure draft (309 pages) of the Government’s Registered Organisations Bill 2000. The exposure draft is open to public discussion and comment.

The proposed Bill would establish a separate Registered Organisations Act and remove from the Workplace Relations Act 1996, all provisions relating to the registration of organisations and their regulation. The Minister’s intention in releasing an exposure draft of the Bill is to canvass the views of all interested parties. As such copies of the draft Bill will be provided to all registered employer associations and trade unions. However, the Government is also interested in the views of professionals, individual employee and employer organisations and other members of the public. Therefore a copy of the draft Bill may be obtained from:

Details of the draft Bill will be outlined in an upcoming HR Link.
