In one of the funnier press releases of the election, Workplace Relations Minister, Joe Hockey has accused Labor's IR spokeswoman of being 'soft on unions and tough on grandparents'.

The attack comes after Hockey released the Liberal's IR policy for the election, which includes up to 52 weeks unpaid leave for grandparents to look after their grandchildren, and tougher right of entry rules for union officials.

Hockey said Gillard had refused to back the Liberal Party's policy 'because she's been told by union bosses such as the CFMEU's Kevin Reynolds that she is not allowed'.

'Labor is soft on union bullies,' he said.

Hockey said Julia Gillard had also refused to back their policy that would enable parents and grandparents to spend more time with their children and grandchildren.
